Spotlight on Diversity: A Guide to Must-Attend Events at the Craft Brewers Conference in Las Vegas

As the Craft Brewers Conference descends upon Las Vegas, the city is not just a hub for beer enthusiasts but also a focal point for empowering events that celebrate and amplify marginalized voices within the craft beer industry. These events merge advocacy with enjoyment, offering unique experiences that promote diversity and inclusion. Here’s your guide to the must-attend events, organized chronologically:

 

1. 2nd Annual Pride Night Hosted by Beer is for Everyone

  • Date & Time: April 21, 2024, 5-11 PM
  • Location: Las Vegas Brewing Company, 1226 S 3rd Street, #180, Las Vegas, NV
  • Highlights: Kick off the conference week with a celebration of pride and diversity. This event features a dog-friendly patio, inclusive bites and brews, and donations to LGBTQIAA2S+ community partners for every LVBC beer sold from 5-7 PM.

2. Pints and Panels Pop-Up

  • Date & Time: April 22, 2024, 5-8 PM
  • Location: The Silver Stamp, 222 E Imperial Ave, Las Vegas, NV
  • Highlights: Meet Em Sauter, the cartoonist behind Pints and Panels, and explore a selection of unique beer-themed books, pins, prints, and more.

 

3. Pink Boots Society Member Meet-Up

  • Date & Time: April 22, 2024, 4:30-6:30 PM
  • Location: Las Vegas Brewing Company, 1226 S 3rd Street, #180, Las Vegas, NV
  • Highlights: Network with members and supporters of the Pink Boots Society at this casual event that includes a draft beer, light appetizers, and highlights the only all-women brew crew in town.

4. Brewster Arm Wrestling

  • Date & Time: April 22, 2024, 7 PM
  • Location: Swan Dive, 1301 S Main St., Las Vegas, NV
  • Highlights: An over-the-top theater of arm wrestling featuring women, non-binary, and trans participants. All proceeds support the Wild West Access Fund for abortion care in Nevada.

5. National Black Brewers Association Tap Takeover

  • Date & Time: April 23, 2024, 6-10 PM
  • Location: Beer Zombies Brewery, 831 W. Bonanza Rd, Las Vegas, NV
  • Highlights: Enjoy a diverse selection of over 20 beers from Black-owned breweries at the National Black Brewers Association (NB2A) event, accompanied by a fireside chat with industry leaders, food trucks, and music.

As a mother and Woman of Color, she wants to empower other BIWOC moms out there who have a passion for beer to learn about the craft and enjoy it among others with the same interests. One of LaShanda’s goals is to open her own bottleshop.
