For those in power (white cis-het men) both beer and women’s bodies are objects of consumption. Whether it’s conscious or not, using the femme body makes a beer more sellable."

Happy new year to everyone from Tha Community. Last year in December Tha Community hosted a scholarship for Cicerone Certified Beer Server exam. We asked women and people of color to apply for the scholarship. Tha Community has picked its two winners @_morganfannin and @ladieswhobrew.

@_morganfannin said “I would LOVE to be ciserone certified to better myself as a taproom manager at Frothy Beard and be able to better sell and serve our product!!!”

@ladieswhobrew stated “ I’ve been transitioning into beer as a hobby for over a year. I have been volunteering as Community Engagement and Fundraising Manager at Beer is for Everyone for the past six months. I would love to teach classes on beer, especially for women new to drinking beer!”

Tha Community felt like these were two great candidates and can’t wait to see them pass the exam. They each were rewarded with a Beer savvy course from @cicerone to help them study and pass the exam.

Please stay tuned for more scholarship opportunities from Tha Community!

Swipe to learn more about how we can decolonize pineapple in beer (and on pizza - yuck!)

P.S. Before the Hawaiian pizza debate begins, let's remind everyone that "Hawaiian Pizza" was invented by a Greek man in Canada.

May he live on through the actions of activists, revolutionaries, radicals, and rebels today and always - because all of us have the capacity to create change. For the fight for civil rights and justice are far from over.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
