About Girl Beer:
Girl Beer aims to put to rest the absurd ideas that women don’t know anything about beer and that there are specific styles of beer that women should drink – AKA “girl beers.” Our centuries-long involvement with beer speaks to these myths, and we hope to reclaim space for women in this community through education.
Girl Beer elevates the voices of women who work in various aspects of the beer industry within the greater Los Angeles area. The film highlights the shared experiences of women in this industry and the biases surrounding it.
The film acknowledges that the misconceptions and discriminations regarding women in beer also translate to a woman’s experience in so many industries and spaces. Let’s change the narrative.
