Shelly Montgomery (she/her) is a Wyoming-based freelance writer with diverse experience and a deep passion for creating worlds with words.
She is an actively registered nurse and enjoys presenting complex health and medical topics in ways that empower readers to develop deeper understanding and independence in their health. As a cannabis nurse and holistic health coach, she is passionate about inspiring access to safe natural medicines and education about physical and mental wellness.
Shelly also loves writing about her other passions including craft beer, organic gardening, travel, live music, and social justice. Her background in the craft beer community ranges from working for a large craft brewer to managing a homebrew store and from traveling the United States visiting backroad taprooms to enjoying unique craft creations.
She hope to increase diversity in the craft beer community through highlighting the diversity that already exists, writing about challenges to diversity, and creating relationships that could open doors to greater diversity in the craft beer industry. She has been connected to the craft beer industry for the past 30 years and is interested in influencing growth and opportunities for untapped potential in populations that she identifies with including women, LGBTQ+, the over-50 crowd, and people with differing abilities and health challenges.
Shelly’s absolute favorite craft beer, for a few years running now, is 1890 IPA available only at Freedom’s Edge Brewing Company in Cheyenne, WY. She has literally traveled throughout the U.S. looking for an IPA that she liked better and has yet to find it!
